Day 4 POST OP

My goodness that was an ordeal.  Surgery went well (according to the surgeon).  Completely under for the procedure and woke up completely disoriented and in PAIN.  Did not expect to feel quite as ill as I did.  No rest for the wicked they say, and so I was wisked into my clothes and out the door to Sherrie's waiting arms before I knew what hit me. 
The ride home is a total blur,  I know that I was happy to see my bed and am sure slept for hours afterwards.   Sherrie and Jim were troopers, making sure my meds were correct and that I was as comfortable as possible.  I don't know what I would have done without them.  I don't recall ever feeling quite so crummy, even after babies or gallbladder. 
Saturday I was able to get up and around but not without alot of effort.  Could only tolerate a bit of water and some broth.  Sunday was worse with persistant nausea and loads of gravol and hence lots of sleep.  Monday a little better and keeping  to a bit of a schedule which is important to me.  Today is Tuesday, and although I can't say I feel terrific, I certainly feel there is light at the end of the tunnel.  Still some shoulder pain and sort of pain in the upper abdomen...kinda like indigestion.  My appetite is returning and managed some runny cream of wheat this a.m (mmmm).   Back to work tomorrow which is a little daunting.  Overall I guess I would say that this is a little more invasive than  I expected.  I lost about 20 lbs pre op and a couple more since so that is positive.  Will be happy to live a "normal" life again and hopefully soon.
